I’ve been on a new journey, learning to love myself in a deeper way. One of the ways I’m doing this? Taking myself out on solo dates.
This is new for me—making time to do things just for me and enjoying my own company without distraction. Here’s a little peek into my solo adventures this month:
I treated myself to lunch at a cozy Indian restaurant, indulging in a lunch buffet. A kind couple nearby invited me to join their table, but I politely declined. I wanted to savor the time alone, reading Hook Shot by Kennedy Ryan and soaking up the freedom of a quiet, mid-week afternoon just for me.
Then, I went to see Exhibiting Forgiveness. I’m not usually a movie person, but Andra Day’s song on the soundtrack intrigued me. I was captivated by the cinematography, moved to tears, and left with a new appreciation for storytelling in film. Highly recommend it!
On Sunday, I tried something different and joined an art class where I painted a planter and picked out a new plant to bring home. I even met some new faces and got inspiration for more solo date ideas. It was such a beautiful experience.

What I’m learning about self-love…
As I’m getting more intentional with practicing self-love, I keep asking myself, “Who taught me how to love myself?” And honestly, no one did. So, here I am, teaching myself, going deeper, and hoping to set an example for my kids.
Here’s how I’m embracing my self-love journey:
1. Recognizing that my self-love journey is my own—there’s no “right” way to live my life.
2. Practicing gratitude daily, from small moments to big milestones.
3. Showing myself kindness and compassion, always.
4. Speaking to myself gently and with love.
5. Staying connected to people who light me up from within.
6. Embracing my flaws and shadow sides with acceptance.
7. Creating a vibe in my home that feels warm and welcoming.
8. Practicing forgiveness, for myself and others.
The more I lean into this inner work, the deeper my self-love grows. I’m grateful for these small but powerful steps and proud of the person I’m becoming.
With love and light,
Siobhan

My self love journey took a leap this year when I decided to treat myself to healing retreats. I chose to prioritize my wellness this summer and I am a different woman today. My external circumstances have not changed much, but my wellbeing, love, appreciation for myself and others are the best gift I’ve received.
