How To Find a Hobby So You Can Have More Play in Your Life
When was the last time you did something fun?
I ask this question because at some point in our lives, we stopped playing and we began taking life very seriously.
We started working, paying bills, and creating a family, and there was no time to think about leisure and play.
Several years ago, I had an epiphany as I was growing my company, BeFree Project, I was helping women be free, and yet I didn't feel free in my own life.
Several things were contributing to how I was feeling, and I knew I needed to make changes.
I realized I wasn't having fun, and I had become a workaholic. My life didn't feel good to me.
I needed a hobby.
I needed something to do that wasn't related to work or my family.
I needed something that was just for me.
This is the reason I started back roller skating because it's something I always found so much joy doing since I was a teenager.
I bought some new skates and started skating several times per week and it’s the BEST feeling ever.
Skating is my time to play, have fun and be free.
I was reading several articles about hobbies, and I learned that having a hobby is good for your mental health.
Hobbies reduce stress and anxiety and release dopamine to your brain which is associated with pleasure. I believe we all can use more pleasure in our lives.
I am not suggesting you fill your calendar with a whole bunch of stuff to stay busy.
I simply want you to have at least one hobby that you do that makes you feel good.
Life can be stressful and taxing on so many levels and I want your life to be fulfilling. In order for you to feel good you have to DO things that make you feel good.
In today’s podcast episode, I share more of my hobbies and give you some ideas to get your wheels spinning.
