My daughter is working in retail for the first time, and she had an epiphany that I just had to share with you.
So, she’s only been working for a little over a month, and she's made it very clear that she's only there for the paycheck. (like most people, lol)
Her coworkers are much older than her and her exact words, "Mom, they look miserable and this is the way they live their lives."
She goes on to say how she feared that if she stayed at the job too long, her life would end up like theirs.
Keep in mind my daughter is seventeen and already self-aware enough to know what she wants for her life.
I reminded her that she's a senior in high school ( if you're a parent you know how dramatic they can be, lol) and that she's going to art college. Period.
As her mom, I am happy that she's seeing this at such a young age because the choices she will make in life will be based on her values and desires.
When she was nine years old, I noticed she was gifted as an artist, and she’s put in well over 10,000 hours in mastering her gift.
She’s illustrated a children’s book, won tons of awards, commissioned her work, had an Etsy shop, and attended the Cleveland Institute of Art for three consecutive years.
My daughter’s only desire for as long as I can remember is to go to art college and that's where she'll be this time next year.
Even though she doesn't like school or work, I’ve been encouraging her to look for a slice of joy each day.
And this thought came to me because I needed it for myself. You see, I noticed my days were starting to look the same, and I didn’t like the way I felt.
It was time to switch things up and look for joyous moments that would inspire me and fill my cup.
Here are a few things that bring me joy...
Writing this newsletter and being able to share what’s on my heart
My delicious cup of coffee that I get to drink while sitting on my beautiful sofa
Quiet mornings of stillness
Rollerskating and dancing
Going out with my friends
Walks in my neighborhood
My plants
Life can become mundane if we let it, and you can easily find yourself just going through the motions with no purpose.
I encourage you to find joy each day to break up the monotony.
My advice is to do things that light you up inside and surround yourself with people that feel good to your nervous system.
Life is to be enjoyed even while you're healing and growing. Make every day feel like it’s the best day of your life.

Things Worth Sharing…
Ok, I may be late to the party, but I just discovered that I can listen to Spotify on my TV. I am so geeked about this, that I’ve been telling everyone I know, lol. As long as you have a SMART TV you should be able to do this too.
And since I mentioned music, this week I discovered Black Coffee on You Tube and it’s a whole vibe.
I often get asked what type of roller skates, wheels, etc. do I use, so if that’s you, check everything out here.
I finished The Chi Season 6 and it was so good. If you’re looking for a show to binge, this show is it!
